Tortuguero National Park is home to a very
large flora and fauna, the reason for the creation of the park. The
Park lies on the alluvial plains of the Nicaragua Trench, which was
filled with sediments millions of years ago. These sediments are
now the marshy islands, the breeding site for the turtles now. This
is also one of the best-known parks since it serves as a refuge for
the various species of turtles and the number of habitats it
has.
